Jane Austen Triptic for Restaurant in Worthing

I was asked to create a seaside scene of Worthing pier with Jane Austen and her Darcy promenading along the foreground amoungst a setting typical of her era. This was to be displayed on three panels on a wall in a Worthing restaurant. Below I have joined the three panels to show how they create a continuous panoramic scene.

Dulux commission

My silhouettes were used to enhance a section of the Dulux Home Trends show being held this week at Westfield shopping centre. I chose to create a family of five for the bedroom.

The Proposal

My latest commision was to create a scene in silhouette of a couple at the moment that the man got down on one knee and proposed on top of a mountain in a ski resort. I incorporated her response into the mountain scene in the background. This portrait was partly made from transparent vinyl and is designed to be hung with light coming from behind.

Drawing with scissors

Here is a short documentary exploring my place in this world as a silhouette artist and my relationship with grandmother, Mary Lou Russell, who taught me this dying art form. It was made by media studies students Upneet Kaur-Nagpal, Alasdair Bayne and Juan Pablo Sarmiento.

Pet portraits

Pets make great silhouette gifts. Here are an elegant couple of cats I was recently commissioned to portrait. I’m also currently working on 32 dogs for a wedding table plan!

New show reel

This is my new show reel created from various bits of footage and stills taken from me at work and of some samples of previous commissions. My friend Shelley Revill (wriggleplum.blogspot.com) did the editing. It’s just replaced the video that I previously had up on the homepage of my main website and will hopefully give new visitors a brief but thorough introduction to how the whole silhouette thing works and can actually be applied.
