‘F’ is for ‘Fancy dress!’

This quirky selection are some of the highlights from a recent fancy dress party with the theme being things beginning with ‘F’. We had a fish finger, fox hunter, flower, Ferrero Rocher, French man, frog, French fries, Flintstones, Flash (superhero), fallen angel. It was a lot of Fun! My favourite silhouette of the evening has to be the fabulous French man. Also loved the controversial fox hunter outfit and rather elegant, all in black, fallen angel.

Russell Family Tree

I’ve just been waiting for my cousin’s wife to give birth (which happened on the 28th Feb, Congrats!) so I could finally complete our Russell family tree as it currently stands. As you can see it’s been an eventful period as Laura, my four month old, is only the third youngest! This tree depicts four generations of Russells.Print Russell Tree Final Copy-min

Silhouette Nostalgia

How precious is this? Whilst doing a spring clean my parents came across some old photos taken as reference for the silhouettes my grandmother cut of me aged 2 years old. I had always wondered if she’d created them from photos or life sketches. Now I know! I imagine that when my grandma (Mary Lou Russell) did these portraits she’d have had no idea how precious they’d be to me now!

New Years Eve 2016

My last booking of the year and first one after giving birth to my baby girl just eight weeks ago! Couldn’t resist a New Years Eve gig at Hutong restaurant on the 33rd floor of the Shard, London, which is a fairly local location to me compared to some. The diners were on a general NYE high in anticipation of a fantastic view of the fireworks display to be seen across the Thames on the southbank at the stroke of midnight. Plus a surprise showering of gold glitter foil from the Hutong staff added to an exciting climax to the evening leaving me full of NYE cheer! Wishing you all a great start to 2017!

Family Portrait

Baby Laura gave me a few extra days before deciding to surface so I utilised that time by cutting a silhouette family portrait of us in anticipation of her birth (then used this image on the front of her birth announcement cards!)14632954_1068270299935103_1751258904477054495_n14717243_1068270286601771_599508261576924437_n14721469_1068270289935104_50012757279809168_n

Product Launch

A wonderful evening at the launch of Penhaligon’s Portraits perfume range at their quaint Covent Garden branch. Held for loyal customers, some remembered me from the last time I was there. One couple even told me that they used their silhouettes by me to feature on the front of their Christmas cards last year. So sweet! I absolutely love hearing stories about the destiny of my work after it leaves my hands. This was my last booking before I pop! I’m going to miss working for a few months now while I give some exclusive attention to my newborn but am aiming to gradually ease back into the swing of things come April so please keep me on your radar!

Wilderness 2016

Can’t believe it’s that time of year again already! Wilderness festival was just as sunny and fun this weekend as it was last year with plenty of interesting head adornments to cut into the silhouettes. I was positioned in the banqueting tent. Can’t believe how many people I bumped into who I know from different walks of life! Come next year and I might see you too!

Reception decor

This wedding couple had me pre-cut larger than life scaled silhouettes of themselves which they had gorgeously framed and hung above their seats at their wedding reception at the beautiful Blake Hall in Ongar, Essex. I think it works so well. I used Diana photo app to merge photos of the framed silhouettes with the venue where they featured resulting in these rather dreamy montages. #dianaphotoapp #blakehall
